The Delaware Motor Vehicle Power of Attorney Form is used when you want to assign someone else on your behalf to make sign all necessary documents and papers to transfer the ownership or title of the vehicle as described in this form. This form can only be used in the State of Delaware.
How to Fill the Delaware Motor Vehicle Power of Attorney Form
Begin the form by providing the details of the principal or the grantor which should include their full and legal name (first, middle, last) & complete address along with the county and state followed by the details of the agent which should also include their full name & complete address and lastly a detailed description of the vehicle which should include make of the vehicle, model year and the vehicle identification number (VIN) acknowledging that the grantor would like the agent to represent them for the aforementioned vehicle.
The document then needs to be dated and signed by the owner and the co-owner of the vehicle. By doing so they certify that they hold complete ownership rights of the given vehicle and are willingly transferring the authority to the aforementioned agent to represent them in matters related to the vehicle which may include signing documents that may be required while the transfer of the vehicle. The grantor also certifies that by doing so they shall not hold State of Delaware and all public officials from the Delaware Division of Motor Vehicles responsible in any way for any liability that may occur from issuance of the title.
Lastly the document also needs to be notarized by the Notary Public for it to be considered legal.
